National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC)

The National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC) is a statutory body in South Africa that facilitates cooperation between government, labor, business, and community organizations. NEDLAC's mission is to:

  1. Ensure effective public participation in the labor market and socio-economic policy and legislation
  2. Facilitate consensus and cooperation between government, labor, business, and the community in dealing with South Africa's socio-economic challenges

NEDLAC's work program is largely determined by the legislative and policy program of government as well as issues tabled by constituencies. NEDLAC is funded by the Department of Labor, and is involved with the Departments of Trade and Industry, Finance, and Public Works.
