A comprehensive new report by the Africa Skills Revolution initiative spotlights the realities of youth experiences of TVET and highlights the potential of vocational education to drive economic resilience and equitable development across Africa.
Africa’s youth population is expected to double to over 830 million by 2050, presenting both a challenge and an opportunity for the continent’s development. This new report—the first of its kind—presents powerful data from a pan-African youth survey, showing that young people are eager to co-design and lead Africa’s skills transformation. With over 80% of respondents believing they have a critical role in shaping TVET, the findings urge urgent action from governments, institutions, and development partners to modernise, fund, and scale youth-centred TVET initiatives.
The report aligns with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the Continental TVET Strategy and comes at a crucial time for reimagining education and employment pathways. It is both a call to action and a roadmap for building a future where Africa’s youth are empowered, equipped, and at the helm of inclusive economic growth.
